As we approach midwinters day here are three great opportunities to engage with so as to end the year on a regenerative high and in preparation for a fruitful 2024. In chronological order …
19th December - Zoom Regenerative
Regenerative Design at Ramboll – 3 Principles in Union
We are looking forward to round off 2023 with a regenerative design focus with Veronika Petrova sharing insights from Ramboll’s Regenerative Design journey.
Over the last 12 months on the back of the COP15 in Montreal, the theme of exploring nature-positive has been central to our Zoom Regeneratives.
Nature as a Partner is one of Ramboll’s three Regenerative Design Principles that Ramboll considers in union with Future Generations and Everything as a Nutrient
Join us at 8 pm UK on the 19th of December.
Midwinter - 21 December
On the solstice, everything falters for a few short hours. This is the pivot of the year, the pausing, when earth’s rotation seems to stop, when mind, spirit and body hesitate, until, from a blaze of darkness, a tangible shift occurs and we all begin to move forward again. (from Windswept by Annie Worsley)
It does seem to have been a wet and dark autumn, despite the recent hard frosts, clear moonlight night skies and bright days, giving a much-welcomed blue sky respite. December marks the winter solstice, a turning point in the year’s natural and ecological cycles. And for us as part of nature, a shift in our spirits with longer and brighter days ahead.
With our local environment group we will be walking to our local henge at Bleasdale Circle, please do share your midwinter activities.
The sun also rises the story’s begun
The moon also rises licked clean by the sun
The sun also rises with tales to be told
The moon also rises trading silver for gold
Lyrics from the Sun Also Rises, Robert Macfarlane and Johnny Flynn
22 December - Biophilic Society Locus
The 22nd is our deadline for getting applications in to become part of our Biophilic Society Locus
We are seeking passionate people on biophilia, biophilic design, regenerative design, regenerative economy, nature and nature-based solutions, willing to support our reconnection with the natural world. The call is open until the 22nd of December
The Biophilic Society ‘Locus’ will be our focal point where (nature/biophilia/regenerative) principles and influences can converge, interact and emanate from. It will act as a kind of guiding vision or north star for biophilia and nature connectivity.
As in nature, a Locus enables self-renewing to function more like living systems, with a clear sense of shared purpose and aligned activities centred on regenerative concepts.
31 December - Regenerative + Agile Masterclass Early Bird
One of the areas where we at Living Future Europe believe faster and more effective progress is needed is education and communication. On one hand, we need to raise the awareness and skills for new generations of practitioners to make living buildings real. On the other hand, we need to communicate constantly in an invigorating way that regenerative buildings, products, companies, and communities are vital, technically feasible, ecologically robust, and economically viable.
To achieve these goals, we have established the ‘Living Future Europe Masterclass’, the third edition of the online educational program running between February and May 2024. The upcoming Masterclass, much like in previous years, will focus on education as a powerful tool in affecting progress towards regenerative design. This year we would like to pushing the boundaries even further. Our goal with this edition is to build on the past edition’s success, and address the ‘why’, the ‘what’ and the ‘how’ of living buildings, products, and communities.

Happy Christmas and Winter Holiday
The sun also rises. Our morning view here in Inglwhite. Looking east it is a real privilege to witness the sunrise at this time of year beyond the village green and cross that dates from 1500’s. \
Whereever you are and whereever you read Regen Notes, I wish you a wonderful and peaceful holiday.
